Workforce Advancement

A strong workforce means a vibrant economy. Through connecting businesses and educational partners, we're committed to creating a quality workforce pipeline, with critical skills for the 21st century market.

The Chamber partnered with Questar III BOCES to produce a series of workforce development videos to encourage students to pursue careers in the trades.

With a rapidly evolving, global economy, the race for talent is increasingly competitive. In every industry, employers are asking the same question: How are we going to attract, train and retain the best workers? Education, development and retention are the key to our region’s future and continued economic growth.

At the core of the Chamber is the commitment to ensuring that current and future generations have career opportunities in our area by enhancing the quantity and quality of talent development.

The Chamber is dedicated to providing programs and services to preserve and attract talent in the region and ensure members remain highly competitive. We aim to support the talent needs of all business.

Our work with our region’s school districts is transforming the outcomes of students by working to ensure they graduate career- and college-ready. The Bob Horan Workforce Development Initiative is aligning efforts to expose and prepare local students to job opportunities created in our area. We work to ensure the Chamber provides the avenue for members to grow and retain their current and future talent pipeline.

From assisting educators in finding mentors for students and externship opportunities to matching students with internship and shadowing opportunities and exposing them to the multitude of careers, our workforce development initiative is creating a platform to connect the educational community to the business community for the betterment of our region.

The Bob Horan Initiative for Workforce Readiness

This initiative is committed to fostering dynamic relationships between educators and business professionals. Programs from this initiative include our annual symposium in October and any subsequent event, project and partnership connected to workforce readiness.
