MHHS Offers 60% Off Adoptions as Kennels Filled with Great Companions

60% off adoption fees and expanded weekend hours give more pets a chance to find homes

MENANDS — The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) is making it easier to welcome a new companion into the family during one of the shelter’s busiest times of year.

With more than 115 animals currently available for adoption, MHHS is offering 60% off adoption fees for all animals through Sunday, August 30, while also expanding weekend hours to give adopters more opportunities to find their match.

“We have so many wonderful pets in need of good homes right now,” said Ashley Jeffrey Bouck, President & CEO of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. “August can be a particularly challenging time for shelters, and when our kennels are full, every adoption makes a difference. We encourage people to take a look at the pets waiting for homes, including those who have been waiting a little longer and animals in foster care.”

MHHS’s Hidden Gems program also helps long-term residents find their families. Adoption fees for animals who have been waiting 100 days or more are waived through the Hidden Gems Fund. These pets may simply be waiting for the right match and can make wonderful companions.

Expanded adoption hours through August 30:

  • Monday-Friday: 12-6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 30: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Society’s website is always current with animals available for adoption. Please note that some animals require an appointment, while others are living in foster homes. Prospective adopters should follow the instructions provided with each animal’s profile.

Every MHHS adoption includes important veterinary care. Adoptable animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for various diseases before going to their new homes.

“With so many animals waiting, we hope people will consider whether now might be the right time to adopt,” Bouck said. “There are dogs, cats and other wonderful companions here who are ready to become part of a family. Sometimes the pet you’ve been looking for is simply waiting for you to find them.”
