Sidewalk Warriors – Troy Recipient of Two Local Grants

Sidewalk Warriors – Troy is one of the 36 grantees to receive The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region’s 2023 Community Impact Grant. The awarded $5,000 grant will be used to purchase essentials to meet the demand of weekly distributions that serve those struggling with food insecurity, homelessness and mental illness in Troy.

Sidewalk Warriors – Troy also received $1,200 from the 43rd Annual WGY Christmas Wish Campaign. These funds will be used to support children through special distributions, including back to school supplies and a Christmas gift drive.

“We’re beyond grateful and honored to be awarded these two grants,” said Robin Fontanelli, Sidewalk Warriors – Troy’s President. “We wouldn’t be able to assist so many individuals that are struggling in Troy without this amazing community support. With the price of food staples and essentials still high and the increase in turnout, we’re relying more and more on community organizations and donations to keep our 35 tables stocked each week. Thank you again, The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region and WGY News Radio 810 & 103.1, for believing and supporting our mission!”

Sidewalk Warriors – Troy was founded in 2021 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is 100% organized and operated by dedicated volunteers. Every Thursday evening at 35 State Street in Troy, they serve more than 140 individuals struggling from food insecurity, homelessness, and mental illness.
