About Us

The Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce is the principal business, civic and economic development agency for the Rensselaer Gateway communities. Founded in 1900, the Chamber represents more than 900 diverse businesses and community organizations employing nearly 43,000 professionals. The Chamber serves all its members -- from sole proprietors to corporations with thousands of people -- with programs and services designed to inform, educate and assist them in reaching their full business potential.

The Chamber is an active advocate in municipal, state and national business and government organizations and effectively represents its membership on public policy issues. In addition, the Chamber is one of three founding members of the Tech Valley Chamber Coalition.

The Rensselaer Gateway communities include Rensselaer County, the cities of Cohoes and Watervliet, and the villages of Green Island and Waterford. These communities are the perfect place to live and raise a family, operate and grow a business or enjoy the many attractions and events held during all seasons of the year. The region has a vibrant and growing business community, friendly neighborhoods, progressive school systems and outstanding cultural institutions and recreational opportunities.

Located at the crossroads of the Northeastern United States, the Rensselaer Gateway is the eastern entry into New York's Capital Region. Historically, the Rensselaer Gateway is considered the birthplace of America's Industrial Revolution; today it is a hub of modern global information businesses. Many leading high technology companies are headquartered here, along with thousands of small entrepreneurial businesses and a network of university-supported incubator businesses.

The Rensselaer Gateway is proud to be home to many cultural institutions, outdoor recreational sites and seasonal sporting adventures. We are within easy distance of the Adirondacks and the Catskills and the Green Mountains of Vermont. In addition, our communities are home to some of the best restaurants in the Northeast.

The uniqueness of the region lies in its many facets -- the bustle of the downtown areas, the conveniences of the suburbs, the beauty of the rural areas. All of this, within close proximity to major metropolitan areas, makes the Rensselaer Gateway an outstanding choice for your home and your business. Welcome to Rensselaer County..."Life Looks Good From Here!"
