Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region Awarded $5,000

Community’s Support Can Help Double the Donation to $10,000 by Sharing the Story on Social Media

ALBANY, N.Y. (November 7, 2022) — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance are pleased to announce that Northeastern Insurance Agency has earned a 2022 Make More Happen Award, which recognizes its exceptional volunteerism with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Capital Region and commitment to making a positive community impact. The award includes an initial $5,000 donation with a chance to double the amount to $10,000 that will directly benefit RMHC of the Capital Region, a nonprofit organization dedicated to drawing on the compassion of their community to deliver and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and families.

Starting Monday, November 7, the story of Northeastern Insurance Agency and RMHC of the Capital Region will be spotlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at www.agentgiving.com/Northeastern-Insurance-Agency where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives at least 500 votes— shares to social media and comments on their story—the donation will be increased to $10,000.

The 25-bedroom house helps more than 400 families per year. The awarded $10,000 will help RMHC of the Capital Region provide additional supplies to the families living in the House to upgrade their living experiences. The funds will also help with any necessary updates to the House as it has been serving families since 1982.

“We strongly support RMHC’s efforts and their mission of providing a home away from home, free of charge, for families with children facing serious medical issues,” said Michael Venezio, President of Northeastern Insurance Agency. “We are forever grateful to receive this Make More Happen Award from Liberty Mutual and Safeco to provide RMHC with much needed funds to continue their impactful work.”

Supporting RMHC of the Capital Region for the last three years, Northeastern Insurance Agency has participated in local food drives and provided monetary donations for a variety of uses toward food for homemade meals, bathroom essentials, bedding, games and other items families might need during their stay. One of the agency’s largest contributions was part of their 12 Days of Giving campaign before Christmas in 2020 where they donated a brand-new 55” Samsung TV, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X to the children at the House.

“The support of local partners like Northeastern Insurance Agency, Safeco, and Liberty Mutual Insurance is vital to our mission of keeping families close to their child in treatment with all RMHC services provided free of charge to families,” said Dr. David Jacobsen, RMHC-CR CEO. “When a child is in the hospital it is important to care for the entire family. Your support makes that happen. Thank you.”

Throughout 2022, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.

“It warms our hearts to see the endless dedication our agents have for their nonprofit partners through their volunteering, fundraising and overall awareness efforts,” said Heather Singleton, Safeco Insurance Region Director for NY/NJ. “The Make More Happen Awards allow our agents to make an even greater impact in the Capital Region and we hope it motivates others to do the same.”
