KIPP Capital Region Celebrates Black Children’s Book Week with Local Author
On Wednesday, February 25, KIPP Albany Community Charter Elementary School (KACCES) celebrated Black Children’s Book Week with a visit from local author Raven Daley, Founder and CEO of Daley Publishing Co. Raven shared her passion for making sure there is diverse representation in children's literature and dedication to creating meaningful stories that celebrate the life experiences of Black and Brown children.
The New York State Writers Institute and the Carl E. Touhey Foundation sponsored the event and donated 100 copies of Raven’s books to students in attendance. This author visit is one of many events held during Black History Month celebrations at the school and regional levels of KIPP Capital Region. It also highlights the importance of literacy, one of the pillars of KIPP Capital Region’s broader mission to support student success.
