TROY TURKEY TROT TURNS UP THE FESTIVE FUN WITH COSTUME CONTEST:

$350 in Prize Money Offered for Participants in Most Unique and Best Thanksgiving Day Costumes

Troy, N.Y. (Nov. 11, 2025) — Get ready to gobble, wobble, and wow the crowd. The 78th Troy Turkey Trot is inviting participants to go all out in this year’s costume contest, a highlight of the featured 5K that brings extra cheer to one of the region’s most beloved Thanksgiving traditions.

The contest offers $350 in total prize money across two categories: Best Thanksgiving Day Costume and Most Unique Costume. Each category will recognize winners with prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third. Both individuals and groups are welcome to enter.

“The costumes are a huge part of what makes the Troy Turkey Trot such a beloved holiday tradition,” said Mayor Carmella R. Mantello. “You’ll see everything from turkey feathers to full family themes out on the 5K course. It’s festive, it’s fun, and it reminds us that Thanksgiving in Troy is something special.”

Participants can submit entries online by 2 p.m. the day before Thanksgiving at TroyTurkeyTrot.com/annual-costume-contest (form available mid-November) or register on race day morning at the O Snap Photo Booth inside the Troy Atrium (4 Third St.) from 6:30-11 a.m. Event staff will assist with forms and photos.

All entries will be posted to the Troy Turkey Trot Facebook page, where fans will vote by “liking” their favorites. Winners will be announced the week of Dec. 2.

The 2025 Troy Turkey Trot is made possible through the generous support of Pioneer, Wm. J. Fagan & Sons, Capital Region Honda Dealers, Choice Physical Therapy, Courtyard by Marriott Albany Troy/Waterfront, and Maria College.
