NYSTEC to Convene Public Safety Leaders to Explore Technology and the Future of Emergency Response
Public Safety Innovation event will bring together state and federal leaders to discuss emerging technologies, cybersecurity and the evolving public safety landscape
New York, NY, October 1, 2026 – New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC) will bring together leaders from state and federal government, public safety and the technology community on October 7 for Public Safety Innovation, an event focused on how emerging technologies are changing the way agencies prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
The event will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Civic Hall, 124 E. 14th Street in New York City. Through expert discussions and interactive technology demonstrations, attendees will explore emerging public safety capabilities and the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating new technologies into emergency response.
The discussion builds on NYSTEC's work supporting public safety and emergency services organizations across New York. As an independent nonprofit technology advisor, NYSTEC helps government agencies modernize the systems and processes that support mission-critical operations.
The program comes as public safety agencies navigate a rapidly changing environment shaped by cybersecurity threats, artificial intelligence, advanced communications, unmanned systems and other emerging technologies. The event will provide a forum for government leaders, first responders and technology experts to discuss how innovation can strengthen preparedness, improve coordination and help build safer, more resilient communities.
Featured speakers include Benjamin Voce-Gardner, Director, Office of Counter Terrorism, New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services; Alice J. Hong, Laboratory Director, National Urban Security Technology Laboratory (NUSTL), U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate; and Colin Ahern, Director of Security and Intelligence, State of New York.
The event will include two expert panel discussions, interactive technology demonstrations and exhibits, and opportunities for attendees to connect with leaders from government, public safety and the technology community.
