Pioneer Collects More Than 6,000 School Supplies and 200 Backpacks for Local Students
Donations from customers and employees help equip students and families supported by Greenville Central School District and Refuge Place, Inc. for the new school year.
Albany, NY – Pioneer (NASDAQ: PBFS), a leading financial institution in New York's Capital Region, provided more than 6,000 school supplies and 215 backpacks to local organizations supporting students and families in Greene and Rensselaer counties. Donations from customers and employees made this the largest collection in the history of Pioneer's annual School Supply Drive.
The donations were distributed through Greenville Central School District's school supply backpack program and Refuge Place, Inc.'s annual Back-to-School initiative in Troy, helping local organizations meet increased demand for back-to-school resources.
“A backpack filled with the right supplies can change how a student walks into school on the first day,” said Thomas Amell, President and CEO of Pioneer. “Our customers and employees responded in an extraordinary way this year. We’re grateful for their generosity that will ensure these students can return to school with confidence and the tools they need to be successful.”
This effort echoes the Pioneer Charitable Foundation’s mission of, “Helping Kids be Kids,” by supporting the health, welfare, and education of children across the Capital Region. Throughout the year, the Foundation partners with nonprofits, schools and community organizations to address the needs of local children and families. Now in its sixth year, Pioneer’s School Supply Drive has provided more than 24,000 school supplies to students in need.
