City of Rensselaer Farmers’ Market Receives $50,000.00 Grant

(Rensselaer, NY – August 25, 2025) The City of Rensselaer Farmers’ Market recently received a grant of $50,000.00 from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets to enhance the infrastructure and encourage connections to more farmers and consumers. The Rensselaer Farmers’ Market takes place each Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00PM in Riverfront Park at Broadway and 4th Avenue and includes entertainment, weekly activities like free Yoga classes and children’s arts & crafts and an array of vendors.

Rensselaer City Clerk Nancy Hardt and her staff organize the Farmers’ Market and the numerous events that take place to attract residents to the market. Most recently, a Car Show at the market attracted numerous car enthusiasts and a Foam Party brought many families to the market. Upcoming events include a Health and Wellness Fair (September 18), a Petting Zoo (September 25), a Chili Cook Off (October 2) and Touch the Truck (October 16). More information about the Farmers’ Market and these events can be found on the Rensselaer Farmers’ Market Facebook page.

The grant application was completed by the City Planning Department and the funds will be used to enhance the area with decorative surface painting and more picnic tables and benches as well as to dedicate more time, effort and materials to promoting the market activities.
