The Society of the Friends of St. Patrick 125th Annual Gathering
The Society of the Friends of St. Patrick has announced that its 125th Annual Gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at 6pm at The Franklin Terrace, in Troy. What began as an intimate lunch gathering on March 17, 1906 has evolved into one of the longest-running St. Patrick’s Day dinners in the United States celebrating Irish heritage, and a prestigious annual forum for the region's most influential voices. As an organization built on a "sentimental attachment to the past and a secure belief in the future," the Society’s signature evening brings together leaders of diverse religious affiliations, national origins, and political leanings to break bread under the banner of companionship and service in honor of the Patron Saint of Ireland, St. Patrick.
Beyond offering the recognition to St. Patrick, this gathering also supports charitable organizations that provide essential services to our neighbors. Your presence allows the Society to give back to the city of Troy and the surrounding communities that have supported them for well over a century.
This year’s recipients of support are both non-profits located in the Capital Region:
- Joseph’s House & Shelter, who offers emergency shelter, street outreach, and support services to homeless and formerly homeless individuals, youth, and families.
- Stride Adaptive Sport's Wounded Warrior program, which provides integrated adaptive sport and recreation activities to men and women of the armed forces who have been injured in combat.
The evening’s special guest is Jimmy Dunn, celebrity stand-up comedian and actor with TV credits including The McCarthy’s and Fraiser. New Directors to the Society’s Board and this year’s winner of the Father Thomas K. Flanigan Award for contributions to our community will be announced at a later date.
