Port of Albany General Counsel elected Chair of American Association of Port Authorities Legal Committee



Patrick Jordan was elected as chair of the Legal Committee for the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) at AAPA’s Port Administration and Management Conference at the Port of Los Angeles.

For more than 100 years, AAPA has served as a membership and advocacy organization that represents more than 130 public port authorities in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. AAPA provides critical industry leadership on security, trade, transportation, infrastructure, environment, port development and operations. The Legal Committee is responsible for monitoring, collecting and disseminating information pertaining to legislation, litigation, regulations, and standards.

Jordan has served as the Port of Albany’s General Counsel since 2016. Before joining the Port, he served as the Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany, also serving as counsel to the City’s Common Council, Planning Board and the Citizens’ Police Review Board.

He is an active community volunteer and serves in leadership roles on the Albany County Bar Foundation (secretary/treasurer), the Albany County Bar Association’s Attorneys in Public Service Committee (co-chair), the USS Slater Destroyer Escort Historical Museum (vice president), the Albany Law School Government Law Center Advisory Board (Governance Committee chair), and the Albany Law School Alumni Association (past president).

He is a 2002 graduate of Albany Law School, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Siena College, Loudonville. Jordan, his wife Laura, and their two children live in Schodack.
