Northern Rivers Names New Superintendent
ALBANY, NY — Northern Rivers Family of Services announced that Leesa Crawford-Imoro has been named Chief Education Officer and Superintendent of Schools. She will provide oversight and direction for Northern Rivers’ educational division, including the Early Learning Center and the School at Northeast, both in Schenectady; and the Neil Hellman School in Albany, and serve as part of the organization’s Executive Leadership Team. Together the schools serve more than 500 students from more than 40 school districts from infancy through 12th grade every year, employ more than 300 professionals, and boast a high school graduation rate of over 90%.
Crawford-Imoro joined the organization in 2025 as Assistant Superintendent. previously served as a school principal with Capital Region BOCES, as an assistant principal with the Schoharie Central School District, and as a home school coordinator with the Albany City School District. She also has more than a decade of experience as a school counselor at Lansingburgh High School and with Questar III.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in human services and social welfare from Empire State College, her master’s degree in school counseling from Capella University, SBL/SDL Educational Leadership certifications from The College of Saint Rose and is currently working on her Doctor of Education in executive leadership from the American College of Education.
Crawford-Imoro replaces the retiring Kris Youmans, who joined the organization in 1985 and has served as Chief Education Officer and Superintendent of Schools since 2012.
