KIPP Capital Region Partners with New York State Writers Institute

KIPP Capital Region partnered with the New York State Writers Institute to host assemblies and a fireside chat with author Maria Perez-Gomez to discuss her book, "The Magical Closet Mystery," and her journey with finding cultural identity, grief, music and resiliency. More than 230 third-grade KIPPSTERS across three elementary/primary schools joined Maria. Each of the students in attendance also received a free copy of the book.

The series of events were part of the KIPP Capital Region's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and included a fireside chat with the author, KCAP educators, families, KIPPsters and staff.
