Keith Dolan joins Clifton Park insurance agency

An affiliate of GTM Payroll & HR has added a former health insurance executive to its ranks.

Keith Dolan, a former regional executive for health insurer Highmark, is now leading GTM Insurance Agency's employee benefits division.

Clifton Park-based GTM Payroll began providing insurance products — mostly workers' compensation and disability coverage — to clients in 2008 but has since broadened its offerings and spun out the department as its own brand.

GTM's companies booked nearly $19 million in revenue last year and have more than 100 full-time employees, according to Guy Maddalone, the group's founder and CEO.

Maddalone said Dolan, most recently a senior vice president with Mohawk Insurance Services, will help employers navigate the rising cost of health insurance.

The insurance agency's director, Ed Catalano, since joining two years ago has worked to bolster its network of property and casualty insurance carriers.

"It was only natural to seek the same market capability out of that benefit side," Catalano said. "So we did go ahead and open that market up as well, and now we're positioned with the market to take advantage of Keith's ability."

Dolan said he's known Maddalone for nearly 20 years because GTM provided payroll services to the insurance agency Rose & Kiernan, where Dolan spent much of his career. (Rose & Kiernan was acquired by New York City firm NFP in 2020.)

With its payroll, human resources and insurance offerings, GTM has positioned itself in the market as a comprehensive provider of administrative services — a goal for other companies competing in those categories, Maddalone suggested.

"When I travel nationwide for various conferences, whether it be insurance ones or HR ones or payroll ones, they're all trying to get to where we are," Maddalone said. "So that gives us a lot of satisfaction that we are already here and that we're starting to make a lot of hay with this three-prong approach."
