Come Support the Fish Market at the Arts Center's Jane Altes Gallery

Our Fish Market initiative is centered on bringing free and accessible art-making and workshops to Troy's North Central neighborhood. Started in 2021 as a listening project, our goal was to open our doors and minds to determine how to best serve historically underrepresented local community members and artists. Over time, artists built a grass-roots space where they could develop relevant programming and build community.

Four years later, we know the Fish Market serves a unique purpose. It allows artists the freedom to create and curate while also giving the community a safe space to connect. It's a place where all are invited to gather and share stories, learn new skills, and build lasting bonds. It's where creativity flourishes, self-expression is celebrated, and a sense of belonging takes root.

Today, we are at a critical juncture and must build a sustainable path to keep the Fish Market project open. We need your support. Your investment will provide essential resources, support underrepresented and emerging artists, and empower residents to shape their own creative experiences.

Join us on Tuesday, May 13th at the Arts Center's Jane Altes Gallery (265 River Street, Troy) to learn about the project, help us build support and perhaps even make a commitment. As a valued member of our community, your presence sends a strong message about the Fish Market's future. Together, we can ensure that this valuable space remains open.

Please send your RSVP directly to [email protected] by May 2nd. Feel free to share this invitation with any other community members who may want to join the cause. Thank you.
