BUFFALO, N.Y. — Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Broadview Federal Credit Union celebrated the naming of the Roswell Park Broadview Community Outreach and Engagement Center at 907 Michigan Ave., following a transformative $1 million gift supporting health equity, cancer outreach and community wellness initiatives across Western New York.

Originally opened in 2023, the center at 907 Michigan Ave. is located adjacent to the Roswell Park campus. The half-acre site is part of the Fruit Belt neighborhood and African American Heritage Corridor.

Serving as a hub for programs and services designed to advance and improve health outcomes in underserved communities, the center offers cancer awareness initiatives, educational programming, navigation to cancer screenings, financial wellness programming and gathering space for community meetings and events.

“The Community Outreach & Engagement Center was created to help bridge health disparities by bringing education, screenings, navigation services and wellness resources directly into the community,” said Roswell Park President & CEO Dr. Candace S. Johnson. “This space serves as a welcoming home base for outreach and engagement efforts across Western New York, and Broadview Federal Credit Union’s generosity will help ensure these important programs continue to grow and serve families for years to come.”

More than 15,000 people have visited the center at 907 Michigan Ave. since it opened in October 2023, with more than 700 events taking place involving more than 400 community groups, ranging from neighborhood block clubs to regional educational and community organizations taking advantage of the community meeting space.

“The work of Roswell Park’s Community Outreach and Engagement teams is changing and saving lives,” said Roswell Park Senior Vice President and Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement Dr. Elizabeth Bouchard. “Tens of thousands of community members have been reached

through our efforts focused on higher-risk and underserved populations. Our physical presence at 907 Michigan Ave. has helped expand that impact by creating a trusted, accessible space right in the heart of the community.”

Leaders from Roswell Park, Broadview Federal Credit Union and community partners gathered for a special event commemorating the new name and celebrating the continued partnership focused on improving access to care, education and wellness resources throughout the region.

“At Broadview, we believe our role goes beyond financial services. This investment in the Roswell Park Broadview Community Outreach and Engagement Center reflects the kind of meaningful, local, people-focused impact Broadview is committed to making in Buffalo and across Western New York,” said Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “We are proud to partner with Roswell Park in support of a center that connects individuals and families to education, support, and care in was that can truly change lives. Buffalo is a region of tremendous strength and promise, and Broadview is honored to invest in its future.”

The Roswell Park Broadview Community Outreach and Engagement Center is located at 907 Michigan Avenue in Buffalo and continues to serve as a welcoming space for education, outreach and community connection.
