Albany, NY - On Friday, December 12, the KIPP Capital High School senior class celebrated submitting more than 400 applications to 120 colleges and universities across the country.
The 2025 “College App-A-Thon” ran from November 12 to December 8 and was spearheaded by the three-person KIPP Forward team. KIPP Forward is a program unique to KIPP that helps students navigate and prepare for the educational and/or career path of their choosing. While the App-A-Thon may be over, the KIPP Forward staff will now help students apply for national and local scholarships and team up with students and families to break down financial aid award letters, compare options, and make sure they’re choosing the postsecondary path that’s the best fit for their future.
“This is the second year that our KIPP Forward team has worked with the senior class to help them achieve their college application goals,” said Myles Clendenin, Director of KIPP Forward. “From preparing personal essays to submitting applications to their top schools, we know that the process isn’t always the easiest, but KIPP Forward is here to support students in choosing and preparing for the educational and career paths that fit their goals and sense of purpose. With peer-to-peer support and encouragement, the students surpassed their collective goal of 300 applications by more than 100!”
