2025 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge Raises $45,000 for Local Not-for-Profits

ALBANY, N.Y. – June 4, 2025 – CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge race organizers today presented $45,000 in proceeds from the 2024 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge to local not-for-profits Unity House and Girls on the Run Capital Region.

Unity House provides a no-cost traveling summer camp for eligible children ages six to 12. Limited funding has restricted the field trips that Unity House has been able to provide in the past but proceeds from the 2025 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge will substantially improve campers’ opportunities to discover, learn, and explore themes and destinations that most would otherwise not have access to. These experiences will greatly increase engagement with art and science.

Girls on the Run Capital Region will expand programming to ten new sites in areas with high rates of childhood diabetes. These new sites will provide programming to a minimum of 100 girls, 30 volunteer coaches, and, by extension, hundreds of family and community members. To ensure access and affordability, Girls on the Run Capital Region will provide healthy snacks, program equipment such as proper footwear and apparel, and financial assistance for participation.

“One of my favorite things about the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is the way our community shows up, year after year, to raise important funds for area non-profit organizations doing life-changing work,” said Brian O’Grady, president and CEO, CDPHP. “Thank you to the participants, our partners at Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC), and our sponsors for your continued support of this event.”

“We are deeply grateful to CDPHP and HMRRC for their generous support,” said David Bach, CEO, Unity House. “This funding will allow us to significantly enhance our summer camp experience with new opportunities that broaden nearly 90 young campers’ horizons and inspire them to explore new interests and possibilities.”

Girls on the Run Capital Region is truly honored to accept this generous Charity of Choice donation from the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge,” said Abby Nero, board chair, Girls on the Run Capital Region. “Community partnerships like this one are the heart of what makes our work possible. It takes a collective effort to reach and empower the next generation of strong, compassionate, and resilient young women. This donation will help us expand access to our program by bringing it to more schools, reaching more girls, and removing financial barriers for families across the Capital Region."

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is organized by and serves as an important fundraiser for HMRRC. In addition to raising funds for local charities, the race also helps to fund HMRRC’s college scholarships, grants, and free running programs.

“HMRRC is incredibly proud to have partnered with CDPHP to deliver another successful CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge to the Capital District and is grateful to all the businesses, sponsors, and participants whose contributions provide meaningful support to local charities,” said Todd Mesick, race director, HMRRC.
