CEO is a Community Action Agency serving all of Rensselaer County. We offer a variety of programs including Head Start and Early Head Start, WIC, Weatherization Assisitance Program, a food pantry, a foster grandparent program, emergency services and more.

Cornell Cooperative Extension is the local outreach of Cornell University, putting knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability and social well-being. We bring local experience and research based solutions together, helping families and communities thrive.

The Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley provides services to people with disabilities and their families.

Since 1968, LVORC has provided free, confidential tutoring to adults in greater Rensselaer County. We train volunteers to help learners to improve their ability to read, write, speak and understand English; empower our learners to be advocates for themselves; and educate the community about literacy issues. We also offer math, computer, and financial literacy; English Literacy Civics and citizenship prep; and Everybody WINS! Power Lunch reading and mentoring for children. New volunteers welcome.

START is a child advocacy center that assits child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregivers in the aftermath of abuse disclosure through the investigative, prosecution and healing process. The Center also operates various care management andprevention programs.

Founded in Troy in 1971, Unity House is a non-profit agency serving Rensselaer County. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people living in poverty, adults with mental illness, victims of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS,children with developmental delays and their families, and others whose needs can effectively be met by our services and philosophy. Unity House's community resource center has a thrift store, food pantry, and dining room, which offer many opportunitiesto volunteer and make a difference in the lives of others.
