Data Engineer

HRCCU is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Engineer to join our growing data and analytics team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing the credit union’s data infrastructure and data integration processes. This role supports enterprise reporting, analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making by ensuring reliable, accurate, and accessible data across systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize secure data pipelines, ELT processes, and database solutions supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and operational systems.
• Administer, monitor, and optimize relational databases, cloud-based/hybrid data platforms, and query performance to ensure high availability, integrity, and reliability.
• Monitor data platform performance, pipeline execution, system availability, and storage utilization; troubleshoot failures and implement corrective actions.
• Create and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data models to support operational and business intelligence needs.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions using Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools, frameworks, cloud services, and best practices that improve scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process automation, operational efficiency, and data platform improvements.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, access management, encryption standards, vulnerability remediation, and secure coding practices in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, database development or related field.
• Proficient Python programming
• Advanced SQL for complex data transformations
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ELT processes using modern cloud-based technology stacks (such as Snowflake, dbt, databricks, AWS Glue, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with cloud engineering platforms (Azure preferred)
• Working knowledge of orchestration & scheduling tools (Azure Data Factory, SQL Agent, or similar)
• Exposure to or working knowledge of leading AI platforms (Copilot, Claude, vLLM, or equivalent)
• Practical SDLC knowledge: coding standards, branching strategies, Git workflows
• Understanding of data governance and data quality
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Employment Details:
• Location: Homebase HRCCU Operations Center in Corinth, NY located in Saratoga County. Hybrid work environment but the position requires regular in-person attendance at our Operations Center. Candidates who currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance will be considered. Relocation assistance is unavailable.
• Annual Salary: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
