Rensselaer Launches Ambassador Program at the Joseph L. Bruno Amtrak Train Station

 

(Rensselaer, NY – October 22, 2025) Amtrak's Albany-Rensselaer (ALB) station is the ninth busiest in the Amtrak network, with recent ridership figures of approximately 899,048 passengers in Fiscal Year 2024. This high volume is largely due to the station’s role as a major transportation hub in New York State’s Capital Region with connecting routes to New York City, Boston, Montreal, Buffalo and Chicago. 

 

In an effort to assist the many travelers that visit the Joseph L. Bruno Albany Rensselaer Amtrak Train Station the City of Rensselaer has launched an Ambassador Program with permission from CDTA, the managers of the train station.  Each weekday a City of Rensselaer Ambassador will be at the Train Station to talk with travelers and to hand out the City of Rensselaer Visitor Guide. The Ambassadorship is funded through the NYS Education Departments Adult Career & Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) Program and the Visitor Guide was developed with support from two longstanding Rensselaer Businesses: Zappala Block / Ace Hardware, doing business since 1922; and Thorpe Electric, family owned and operated since 1955.  The brochure shares information about Rensselaer’s history and highlights Places of Intertest, Restaurants, Shops, Salons and other things to do in Rensselaer.
