Pioneer celebrates Mother’s Day by Supporting Baby Shower held by Schenectady Community Action Program

Attendees received essential supplies and fun items donated by Pioneer, which collected more than 8,000 baby-related items across its 22 branches

Schenectady, NY — The celebration of Mother’s Day got a head start today when the Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP) held a Baby Shower for new and expectant mothers at its Early Learning Center in Schenectady.

Attendees were given a host of essential supplies and fun items courtesy of Pioneer, from diapers and baby wipes to rattles, toys and books. They were among more than 8,000 baby-related items collected throughout March across Pioneer’s 22 branches as part of its quarterly Tangible Giving Drive. Those goods were supplemented by donations from Pioneer.

During the Baby Shower, SCAP invites families in its programs who are expecting or have a child up to 1 year of age to learn about services provided by a host of community partners, who are also in attendance.

The donation by Pioneer is aligned with the Pioneer Charitable Foundation’s mission of “Helping Kids be Kids.” Since its founding in 2018, the foundation has donated $1.9 million to support more than 400 local nonprofit organizations that work to improve the health and welfare of Capital Region children, offering housing, nutrition, or health care, and educational, social and recreational programs. In addition, Pioneer employees contribute hundreds of hours annually in local volunteer service.
