KIPP Troy Prep Students Selected for Georgetown University's Summer College Immersion Program

Troy, New York – Alanis Osorio, Nasir Mcmillian, and Lovette Thomas of KIPP Troy Prep High School have been accepted for a three-week college prep program for rising high school seniors from June 30 to July 19 at Georgetown University.

The Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) is offered to high-achieving students who are part of the KIPP Foundation school systems, the Cristo Rey Network, and other select schools, networks, and community organizations.

All three students are heading into their senior year at KIPP Troy Prep High School. Alanis has attended KIPP since kindergarten and is interested in pursuing higher education opportunities at John Jay College in New York City. Nasir has attended KIPP since 6th grade and is interested in attending the New York University School of Business. Lovette is looking forward to an experience that will help prepare her for the future in which she hopes to study criminal psychology at Hampton University.

“As a member of the KIPP Forward Team, it is always rewarding to assist our scholars in achieving great things, particularly when it helps prepare them for whatever path they choose for their future,” said Myles Clendenin, KIPP Capital Region Alumni Support Manager. “This free, three-week program will offer our KIPPsters the opportunity to meet other students from around the country while expanding their resources, interests, and skills.”

Members of the KIPP Forward team offer support to students throughout FAFSA, scholarship, and college application processes, career readiness, and respective journeys as alumni.
