Albany, NY - On Friday March 6, KIPP Capital Region Public Schools hosted its 20th Anniversary Celebration event at the new KIPP Capital High School where guests honored 20 years of educating and supporting students and families in the Capital Region. The celebration’s program included a student performance, music, minglinging and remarks from Honorary Chair Kizzy Williams, KIPP Board Chair John Reilly and KIPP Capital Region CEO Stephanie Valle.

“This school year is one to be proud of not only because we are celebrating the 20th year of KIPP in the Capital Region, but also the long-awaited opening of KIPP Capital High School,” said Stephanie Valle, KIPP Capital Region CEO. “There has been a lot of hard work and critical partnerships that have gotten us to this point, and the KIPP Capital Region community, our school leaders, faculty and staff is proud to keep the momentum going to ensure our KIPPsters have the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed for years to come.”

The 2025-2026 school year marks twenty years since KIPP opened its doors in the Capital Region with KIPP Tech Valley Middle School. In those two decades, KIPP Capital Region’s presence has grown significantly, now serving approximately 2,400 scholars across seven schools located in Albany and Troy.
