Concert and Reception Celebrate Mr. Drucker’s Appointment as BBS Artistic Director

Great Barrington, MA (February 15, 2024):  Eugene Drucker, violin, Roberta Cooper, cello, and Renée Anne Louprette, piano, will perform at a Berkshire Bach Society (BBS) chamber music concert here at Saint James Place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 5 pm, followed by a reception in the Great Hall. The event is a fundraiser for BBS and celebrates Mr. Drucker’s recent appointment as BBS artistic director. The performance includes music by Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and Brahms.

Mr. Drucker’s BBS appointment comes close on the heels of the retirement of the legendary Emerson String Quartet, which he co-founded with fellow students at The Juilliard School 47 years ago. The Emerson became the standard by which all younger string quartets are judged, garnering nine Grammy Awards, three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize, and Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year” award over the course of its existence.  The group retired in October 2023 so that its members could focus on teaching and their solo performance careers. Mr. Drucker is a longtime member of the Berkshire Bach Ensemble and music director of the BBS Bach at New Year’s concert series. As BBS artistic director, he will help spearhead new programming and performance opportunities.

“Sharing this special performance to mark Mr. Drucker's appointment is a joy, and we invite all lovers of chamber music to celebrate with us at the beautiful Saint James Place,” said Terrill McDade, BBS Executive Director.  "Mr. Drucker has been in the role of Artistic Director for only a short time and has already outlined several exciting projects that are in the planning stages now. His ideas promise a satisfying and thought-provoking exploration of the art of music, and we look forward to bringing these events to our audiences."

Join Berkshire Bach at Saint James Place on March 9, 5pm, for chamber music in an intimate space that showcases the superb artistry of these musicians.  Proceeds from the concert benefit The Berkshire Bach Society and fund future events.

Tickets at  All seats $125. Tickets include concert and reception.
