About the Arts Center of the Capital Region

The Arts Center of the Capital Region is a dynamic community hub dedicated to fostering creativity and cultural engagement. We provide a space for artists to learn, create, and connect and offer a diverse range of classes, exhibitions, and public art projects. Our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals and the community through the arts.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of External Relations, the Development Manager is a mission-critical role responsible for executing the Arts Center’s comprehensive fundraising strategy. This position will be a key driver of our financial sustainability and growth, focusing on three core areas: membership, grants, and individual, corporate, and foundation giving. The ideal candidate is a proactive and relational fundraiser with a passion for the arts and a proven track record of success. Salary will be $58,000 – $62,000, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow and retain our membership base.

  • Cultivate relationships with new and existing members, ensuring a high level of engagement and satisfaction.

  • Oversee member communications, including renewals, thank you letters, and benefit fulfillment.

  • Analyze membership data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.

Grant Management

  • Serve as the primary grant writer, researcher, and manager for the organization.

  • Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar, ensuring timely submission of all proposals and reports.

  • Research and identify new grant opportunities from government, foundations, and corporate sources.

  • Work collaboratively with program staff to gather information and craft compelling narratives for grant applications.

 Individual, Corporate, and Foundation Cultivation

  • Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

  • Develop and execute targeted cultivation and stewardship plans to deepen donor relationships.

  • Plan and execute fundraising appeals and campaigns.

  • Support the Executive Director and Director of External Relations in major gift solicitation and special fundraising initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to craft persuasive and compelling stories.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • A deep passion for the arts and the mission of the Arts Center of the Capital Region.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in small nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in grants, membership, and individual giving, is preferred.
