Overview
The Assistant Branch Manager supports branch leadership in overseeing daily operations, staff performance, and member service to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality service delivery. This role helps develop and coach team members, reinforces a strong sales and service culture, and contributes directly to branch growth and profitability through active participation in lending, account opening, and member support activities. The position assists with performance monitoring, staffing coverage, and regulatory compliance, while promoting teamwork, community involvement, and alignment with the credit union’s mission, values, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, coach, and engage staff to maintain a high-performing, service-focused team.
  • Foster a strong sales and service culture aligned with organizational goals and marketing strategies.
  • Lead branch sales activities and actively participate in daily branch operations, including loans, new accounts, and member service, ensuring efficient workflows, exceptional service, and overall branch growth and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, security standards, audits, and regulatory requirements (including BSA).
  • Provide guidance in resolving complex member issues and operational challenges.
  • Oversee appropriate staffing schedules, filling in as needed for staffing vacancies.
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify opportunities to improve revenue and efficiency, and support budget planning.
  • Promote new products, services, and digital banking solutions to enhance member engagement.
  • Foster teamwork across branches and departments and participate in community events and organizational initiatives.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and commitment to the Credit Union’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum associate’s degree or at least 2 years equivalent experience in financial services industry and minimum 2 Years Teller or cash handling experience in a financial institution or retail environment required. Minimum 1 Year Supervisory or leadership experience in a financial institution or retail environment preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of all internet software applicable to the position, CMC Flex, and Microsoft Office Suite

Education/Experience:

Minimum associate’s degree or at least 2 years equivalent experience in financial services industry and minimum 2 Years Teller or cash handling experience in a financial institution or retail environment required. Minimum 1 Year Supervisory or leadership experience in a financial institution or retail environment preferred.

Certificate and Licenses:

NMLS registration

Maintain NYS Notary Public license or required to obtain a Notary Public within 6 months

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

Minimum 2 years Teller or cash handling experience in a financial institution or retail environment required.

Must be able to perform all functions within branch environment.

Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Oral, written, and auditory communication skills

Interpersonal skills

Ability to multitask

Quality customer relation management skills

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
