Whitney Young Health Names New Chief Medical Officer

Whitney Young Health has announced the appointment of Dr. Deborah Vasquez as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Vasquez joined the Whitney Young Health team in 2013 as a Pediatric Attending Physician. She most recently served as the Associate Director of Pediatrics before assuming the role as the Interim Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Vasquez is a board certified pediatrician who received her education from the University of Rochester and the Sackler School of Medicine New York State/American Program of Tel Aviv University, and completed residency programs at the Jacobi Medical Center Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She also obtained her Master’s in Public Health from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Prior to joining Whitney Young Health, Dr. Vasquez led a mobile homeless adolescent health program at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. She has also served as the Medical Director for the Bureau of Immunizations at the New York State Department of Health.

“Dr. Vasquez’s passion for the WYH mission and her commitment to our patients, big and small, made her an exceptionally competitive candidate for this role”, said Whitney Young Health President and CEO David Shippee. “Her blend of training and experience as a clinician and a public health practitioner makes her uniquely suited for where we find this organization during the throes of the pandemic of our lifetime.”
