Troy to Accept 2018 Property Tax Prepayments
City officials announced that the City of Troy will allow property and homeowners to make early payments on 2018 property taxes. The announcement is in accordance with Governor Cuomo’s recent Executive Order which authorizes localities across New York State to collect early property tax payments.
Upon the issuance of the City’s tax warrant for 2018 – anticipated for later this week – the City of Troy will begin allowing early property tax payments. Property and homeowners are asked to check the City website for an announcement on the issuance of the tax warrant and start of the prepayment collection period. Home and property owners should seek guidance from a tax professional regarding allowable deductions prior to using the prepayment option.
Property owners will be allowed to make prepayments online by visiting the City Treasurer’s page. Early tax payments will also be permitted in person at the Treasurer’s Office during normal office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (excluding holidays) in Troy City Hall, located at 433 River Street, Suite 5001, Troy, New York, 12180.
