Tackling Hunger: SEFCU to Donate $125 to FeedMore WNY for Every Point the Buffalo Bills Score Against New England

SEFCU is once again sweetening the pot for this year’s Buffalo Bills playoff games as the credit union supports our hometown team and tackles hunger at the same time.

For every point the Bills score tomorrow against the New England Patriots, SEFCU will donate $125 to FeedMore WNY.

“FeedMore WNY deeply appreciates SEFCU’s continued partnership. Their generous donations through the years have provided nutritious food and hope to hungry children, families, veterans, and older adults throughout Western New York,” said Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY. “We are thrilled that SEFCU will once again support FeedMore WNY during the Buffalo Bills playoffs. FeedMore WNY will be cheering loudly for the Bills and SEFCU this Saturday!”

Every year, FeedMore WNY serves million meals to homebound neighbors and supports people in need through nearly 300 pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and other hunger-relief agencies throughout Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties while also offering nutrition assistance, education, and other supports.

“While a Bills vs. Patriots playoff game doesn’t need any more hype, through our donation, this game will provide more help – and hope – to people in need throughout the Buffalo area,” said SEFCU President and CEO Michael Castellana. “Hunger and food insecurity are ever-present problems that have intensified throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, making the support provided by FeedMore WNY more important than ever. We’re happy to help however we can, especially if it means cheering on the Bills.”

This is the second straight year SEFCU is donating to FeedMore WNY based on the number of points the Bills score during their playoff run. Last year, thanks to Buffalo’s run to the AFC Championship Game, SEFCU donated $20,000 to FeedMore WNY. Once again, SEFCU will double the dollar amount donated per point as the Bills progress through the playoffs. So, should the Bills beat the Patriots, SEFCU will donate $250 per point in the next round of the playoffs.

SEFCU remains dedicated to fighting hunger throughout the year. Just last month, the credit union continued its annual tradition of delivering financial contributions to food pantries and rescue missions in Buffalo, Binghamton, Syracuse, and the Capital Region. This year, in partnership with CAP COM Federal Credit Union, $350,000 was distributed to nearly 50 nonprofits across the state.

With their 47-17 win over the New England Patriots on Wild Card Weekend, the Buffalo Bills advanced in the NFL Playoffs and helped in the fight against hunger in Western New York. Thanks to Buffalo’s dominance, and SEFCU’s commitment to donate $125 per point scored, $5,875 will go to FeedMore WNY. FeedMore WNY serves millions of meals to homebound…
