Sunmark Credit Union Among Local Companies Recognized Nationally as a Top Workplace

Despite workers leaving their jobs in droves since 2020, several local companies are leading the way in keeping their employees happy, fulfilled, and reporting high levels of job satisfaction.

The Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS®), Sunmark Credit Union, and Warren, Washington and Albany Counties ARC have all been recognized among the 2022 Top Workplaces USA for their commitment to their staff, their clients, and their communities.

The Top Workplaces USA celebrates companies of various sizes that make the world a better place to work together, by prioritizing a people-centered culture, and giving employees a voice. The award is based solely on feedback from employee engagement surveys.

The “Great Resignation and Reshuffling” has demonstrated how important employee satisfaction is, and here are some of the ways three of the local winners are doing that:

CIS is a nonprofit leader in the cybersecurity field, committed to keeping the connected world a safer place. In addition to competitive pay and a top-tier benefits package, CIS employees are given 40 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer in their local communities, as well as ongoing professional and personal development opportunities. After pivoting to fully remote operations in 2020, the staff stays connected through monthly teambuilding activities online, including aromatherapy, charcuterie board making, bingo, Lego building, and more. Health and wellness is also among the company priorities, and each employee is given a weekly wellness hour to utilize any way they choose. According to one CIS staffer quoted in the Top Workplaces survey, “Employees are taken care of, family life is understood and encouraged, and the mission is an important and interesting one.” CIS is also growing rapidly, and there are several career opportunities available.

Sunmark Credit Union is also named a 2022 Top Workplace USA. “Sunmark Credit Union strives to create a workplace that values our team,” says Sunmark spokesperson Glen Stacey. “We work together to benefit our colleagues, members, and community by practicing integrity, accountability, and kindness. Sunmark surveys our employees to maintain a real-time understanding of our culture, employee satisfaction, and where we can improve. Then, Sunmark addresses opportunities for improvement and empowers employee-driven teams to recommend changes to programs and policies that will impact our culture positively. Through these surveys, it became clear how much learning and development matters to our employees. Sunmark recently rolled out Sunmark University to provide comprehensive learning and development opportunities for all staff.” Sunmark Career opportunities are available here.

“Warren, Washington, and Albany Counties ARC (WWAARC) is extremely honored to be a winner of Top Workplaces USA 2022!” says WWAARC spokesperson, Kaitlin Rizzuto. “Our employees are so important to the success of our organization, they are the pillars of this Agency, as they provide around the clock care for the nearly 1,000 people with disabilities we support in capacities such as day, residential, and employment services. For over 65 years, WWAARC has represented a longstanding, family governed tradition of providing outstanding advocacy, support to families, and the very best quality services throughout Warren, Washington and Albany Counties.”
