St. Peter’s Hospital Ranked Among Top 10 Hospitals in New York State by U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report has awarded St. Peter’s Hospital the highest ranking in the Capital Region and one of the highest rankings in New York state for excellent quality of care.

In rating more than 4,500 hospitals across the country on key indicators of patient care, the magazine ranked St. Peter’s Hospital 10th among nearly 220 hospitals in New York state and the highest in northeastern New York.

It marks the fifth consecutive year St. Peter’s Hospital was the highest ranked hospital in the Capital Region and northeastern New York.

“Every day, physicians, nurses, and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital serve together to provide the highest quality and most compassionate care for our patients,” said Mike Finegan, president of acute care at St. Peter’s Health Partners. “It is our great honor and privilege to provide this care to the Capital Region community. Today’s ranking from U.S. News & World Report is a welcome recognition of the dedication, expertise, and impact of our clinical team. Thank you and congratulations to everyone whose efforts contributed to this ranking.”

St. Peter’s Hospital was rated as “high performing” in eight adult specialties, procedures, and conditions: aortic valve surgery; heart bypass surgery; heart failure; colon cancer surgery; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); hip replacement; knee replacement; and lung cancer surgery.

The eight “high performing” ratings, along with the hospital’s overall rating, led U.S. News & World Report to award St. Peter’s Hospital a “Best Regional Hospital” designation.

U.S. News & World Report ratings, now in their 29th year, are based on data from multiple sources, including: the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey of Hospitals; publicly available data from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; other federal data sets; data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and other professional organizations; and surveys of board-certified physicians.
