Russell Sage College Named to List of Top Schools for Transfer Students

Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges Includes Sage on its Transfer Honor Roll for Third Year in a Row

TROY, N.Y. — Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, has named Russell Sage College to its 2022 Transfer Honor Roll.

The honor society considered college cost, financial aid, campus life for transfer students,
admission practices and bachelor’s degree completion rates to create its list of the most transfer-friendly schools in the nation.

Sage also appeared on PTK’s 2020 and 2021 honor rolls recognizing four-year colleges and universities that provide a supportive and smooth transition from community colleges.

“Transfer students have different needs and goals compared to first-year students,” said Erin Menzer, associate director of transfer and graduate enrollment management at Sage. “We recognize that, and work hard to offer transfer students the best path to graduation."

“My transition to Sage as a transfer student has been wonderful,” said Jennifer Stuart, a Business Administration major who earned an associate degree at a local community college before she enrolled at Sage. "I had absolutely no trouble transferring credits over."

She added that she found it easy to get involved on campus after transferring: she’s been a member of the women’s field hockey team and is one of the leaders of a campus group addressing food insecurity.
Sage maintains 70 articulation agreements with two-year colleges to help maximize transferable credits and simplify enrollment for transfer students, Menzer said. The college’s experience serving non-traditional students, small classes, transfer scholarships and competitive financial aid are also attractive to transfer students.
