Red Cross Seeks “Real Heroes” Nominations



The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York is seeking nominations of individuals and/or groups to be honored at its Real Heroes Breakfast this fall. Specifically, the Red Cross wants to know about ordinary people in the greater Capital Region who have performed extraordinary acts of service and bravery in the last year.

“Every year, we see amazing examples of lives that are changed – and sometimes even saved – by people who have the courage to act in the face of emergencies,” said Gary Striar, CEO, American Red Cross of Northeastern New York. “That’s the heart of our mission at the Red Cross, and that’s why it’s so important for us to celebrate Real Heroes in our community.”

Heroes may be nominated in six categories: Adult Good Samaritan, Youth Good Samaritan, Blood Donor Hero, Emergency Relief Hero, Lifesaving Hero and Military Hero. This year’s Real Heroes Breakfast will also honor those who make an extraordinary lifesaving impact through their participation in the Capital Region Sound the Alarm event on October 14.

To submit a nomination, visit redcross.org/NENYheroes and click on “Nominate a Hero”. Additional award descriptions and criteria can be found on the nomination form. The Real Heroes Breakfast will be held on Thursday, November 2 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, NY. All proceeds support the lifesaving programs and services of the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York. To purchase tickets, please visit redcross.org/NENYheroes or call (518) 694-5108.
