Northern Rivers Names Leader of New Residential Program

Northern Rivers Family of Services announced that Ricardo Phipps has been named director of the organization’s just-launched New Directions residential program.

New Directions, a program for Teens Going Places, Going Strong, is a residential placement option serving 8 young women ages 16 and 17 at the Northern Rivers Schenectady residential facility. Northern Rivers was selected as one of 13 organizations statewide to develop intensive residential programming for teens affected by the passing of Raise the Age legislation in New York state.

Phipps joined Northern Rivers in 2016 as a manager in the foster care program. He previously served as a transitional manager for the state Office of Mental Health, as a therapist for United Counseling Service of Bennington County, and as a shelter administrator for Captain Youth and Family Services. He earned his bachelor’s and master of social work degrees from the University at Albany.
