Northern Rivers Announces Champions for Children of the Capital Region

Northern Rivers Family of Services is pleased to announce the 2017 “Champions for Children of the Capital Region”, to be honored at the annual Champions for Children event on May 10.

This year’s awardees were chosen as a result of their outstanding contributions to children’s health, safety and well-being. They are:

  • Albany Medical Center
  • Paula Stopera and the CAP COM Cares Foundation
  • Siena College
  • Upstate Cakes for Kids

“Our honorees go above and beyond the call of duty for children every day,” said William T. Gettman, Jr., chief executive officer at Northern Rivers. “Their drive, determination and passion to make a difference for kids reflects our own mission, and we are proud to stand with them in support of our community. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments.”

This year marks the 11th anniversary of Champions for Children. Since inception in 2007, the event has raised more than $900,000 and has provided support to the more than 75 programs and services provided to children, adults and families throughout New York State.

The event will be held on Wednesday, May 10, from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel in Albany. For information on joining the honorary committee, general admission, or sponsorships, visit northernrivers.org/champions or contact Stephanie Douglas, director of development, at 518.579.3504 or [email protected].
