Mission Accomplished to Get Their Glow On at Dance-A-Thon Launch Party
With their 8-hour Dance Marathon fundraiser just a year away, one local organization believes it’s never too soon to get your dance moves perfected and to start raising funds for an important cause.
On Saturday, April 21, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Mission Accomplished Transition Services (Mission Accomplished), along with our community partner Fingerpaint, will host a 3-hour Dance-A-Thon Launch Party at Jupiter Hall at Lucky Strike Social in Crossgates Mall. This “Glow Party” fundraiser is the kick-off event that will lead the organization’s 8-hour Dance Marathon, scheduled for April 20, 2019.
Mission Accomplished is an Albany-based non-profit organization that provides customized, industry-specific job training and career coaching programs for students in high school, trade school and college who are under/unemployed and struggling to transition from school to the global workforce, higher education and a life of giving back.
Founder, Carmen Duncan, said, “This inaugural launch party and dance marathon brings the community together to have fun and acknowledge community stars while making an investment in aspiring young professionals. We’re giving these students access to those who can guide them on how to get from school to a meaningful career.”
The funds raised from April 21, 2018 to April 20, 2019 will support programming that will help millennial students overcome obstacles to entering the workforce. The biennial theme is “Dancing with the Community Stars.” The goal for the 2019 event is to recognize fifteen prominent community and business leaders for helping millennial students gain access to careers, higher education and charitable activities. Duncan believes much of the organization’s success can be attributed to strong community partnerships. The featured sponsor of this launch party, Fingerpaint, supports the organization with mentorship and support, both through expertise and financial contributions.
“I just wanted to express my gratitude for the recognition given to Sunmark at the 2017 Dancing with the Community Stars Dance-a-Thon at your event. I was happy to accept on behalf of the Credit Union and the Foundation. You did a wonderful job recognizing your community stars. We look forward to a long relationship with you and Mission Accomplished. Thank you for all you do! " said Bryan Delahanty, Executive Vice President and CFO, President at Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation
The launch party at Jupiter Hall will be a “Glow Party” theme, so guests are encouraged to wear colors that will glow brightly. The event will include appetizers, some cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and swag bags. Tickets are currently on sale for $35 per person. This is a 21+ event.
