La Salle Institute Hockey Team To Hold A Benefit Game At HVCC Ice Arena

Each year the hockey team, invited by the La Salle soccer team, participates in the Breast Cancer Walk in Washington Park. This year the hockey team wanted to start their own annual benefit to support a local organization. Since La Salle has a tradition of military influences with its JROTC programs the boys thought that honoring our veterans would be a great idea. The team decided to select the Albany Housing Coalition’s House for Veterans to be the beneficiary this year and will be playing a benefit hockey game to raise funds and awareness and honor these veterans. http://ahcvets.org/

The team has been visiting the Albany Housing Coalition’s House for Veterans in downtown Albany to drop off food donations help with holiday decorations and recently attended one of the house weekly resident meetings. The players and the house residents are very excited about the upcoming benefit game. At the game the players will be skating in honor of a personal veteran as well as the Veteran House resident and there will be a pre-game ceremonial puck drop as well as a post-game ceremony recognizing each of these veterans. All funds raised from gate admission and raffles will be donated to the Vet House.
