Jo Ann LeSage Nelson, APR Nominated To Serve As National Secretary Of The Public Relations Society Of America



Jo Ann LeSage Nelson, APR, vice president of client services at Pierce Communications in Albany, has been nominated to serve as secretary of the national board of directors of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 2019. She is the first Capital Region (NY) public relations practitioner to serve on the organization’s national board and executive committee.

“I am enormously proud of Jo Ann for her commitment to the public relations profession and our professional society. Giving back to our community and our profession is one of the hallmarks of our firm and Jo Ann’s service to PRSA is certainly a prime example of that,” said Jonathan Pierce, APR, Pierce Communications’ president.

The executive committee and director nominees, along with any petitioning candidates, will be presented at PRSA’s Leadership Assembly on Oct. 6, 2018 for approval.

Prior to joining Pierce Communications in 2006, Nelson worked as vice president at another local public relations firm and was the vice president of communications and government relations at the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. At Pierce, Nelson is responsible for strategic public relations and communications counseling for clients.

In 2008, Nelson was selected as the as the first recipient of PRSA’s Capital Region Chapter’s Outstanding PR Practitioner Award, given to a Capital Region public relations professional “who has achieved exceptional success, displayed the highest ethics and is dedicated to serving the community and the profession.”

Nelson is a past board chair of the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce and a former board president of Literacy New York Greater Capital Region. She is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and is a resident of Clifton Park, NY where she lives with her husband, Chris Nelson.
