HVCC Tuition Stays at 2020 Level; 2000+ On-Campus Courses This Fall

Hudson Valley Community College has held tuition stable for a second consecutive year making the college one of the most affordable higher education options in the state. Full-time students who are New York State residents will pay $2,400 per semester (plus fees). Part-time resident students will pay $200 per credit hour.

“We want our community to know that Hudson Valley is a safe, affordable, high quality option, and a smart financial choice, especially right now,” said President Roger Ramsammy. “As we move the majority of our courses back on campus this fall, students can count on us to help them get ahead, with academic support programs and flexible enrollment options. For those looking to start a four-year degree, our courses are highly transferrable, and our health care, business and technology programs can give students the skills to jumpstart their careers. Overall, Hudson Valley offers students an incredible value.”

This spring, the college released its Fall 2021 semester schedule, which includes more than 2,000 course sections beginning Monday, Aug. 30. The majority of classes are scheduled to be held on campus in accordance with CDC, SUNY and NYS Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines. As it has for several decades, the college also will continue to offer a large number of courses in an online or remote learning format.

Holding the line on tuition is just the latest in a number of actions the college has taken over the past year that continue to make Hudson Valley more accessible to students.

In addition to freezing tuition for two straight academic years, the college assisted needy students with CARES Act funding and through the college Foundation’s Student Emergency Fund. Nearly 2,000 E-gift cards for those experiencing food insecurity were handed out to students, and the college spent $200,000 on new laptops, software and security. This summer, the college is providing a full scholarship for high school students completing summer session courses as well as tuition-free “head start” workshops for those planning to start their college education this fall. College students taking summer session courses in June will be provided textbooks at no cost.

“Our faculty and staff provide extraordinary instruction, opportunities and support to our students, and we’re doing everything we can to keep college as affordable as possible this fall, ” said President Ramsammy.
