Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C. Announce New Partners



Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C., an intellectual property law firm based in Albany and Rochester, New York, is pleased to announce the promotion of Matt Hulihan and of Rachel Leah Pearlman to the position of Partner with the firm. Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C. is the largest law firm dedicated exclusively to Intellectual Property law and related litigation in upstate New York with 18 partners and a total of 30 attorneys and patent agents.

“The firm is excited to welcome Matt as a partner. Matt has outstanding legal skills and abilities in the area of Intellectual Property and particularly in the computer science field.” said Nicholas Mesiti, the firm’s Managing Partner.

Matt practices a variety of intellectual property services, focusing primarily on patent and trademark prosecution.  He is a key patent attorney in the firm’s Computer Science and Electrical Engineering group, applying his technical and academic backgrounds in computer hardware and software.  Matt also co-chairs the firm’s Startup practice group that works with startup and other entrepreneurial clients.

Matt holds a Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School, a Masters in Business Administration from Union Graduate College, and a B.S. in both Mathematics and Computer Science from the University at Albany.

Matt lives in Guilderland, New York with his wife and two sons.

Rachel focuses her practice on information technology law, including intellectual property prosecution, litigation, and licensing.  Rachel is especially active in the computer systems, computer science, electronics, electronic commerce, and electronic communications areas. 

Ms. Pearlman worked in the information technology field for almost a decade. During this time, she was employed as both a programmer and a project manager and served as vice president of an information technology consulting company, where she managed the design, development, and implementation of core systems for major financial institutions, leading non-profits and Fortune 500 companies.

Rachel received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Brooklyn Law School (2007) and earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in the interdisciplinary field of Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Prior to joining Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C., she worked in the intellectual property practice in the New York City office of an Am Law 100 general practice firm.  

Rachel lives in Albany, New York with her husband and her three sons.
