United Way of the Greater Capital Region works with community organizations, food providers, schools and parents to make sure that kids and teens have a healthy and fun summer.  In 2013, the local data showed that out of the 42,000 children who eat free/reduced price meals during the school year, only 1 in 7 accessed free summer meals. United Way and its partners set out to bridge this gap by increasing the number of meal sites and starting alternate methods of meal delivery.
