Frear Park Municipal Golf Course to Open Friday, May 1st

Mayor Patrick Madden today announced Frear Park Municipal Golf Course will open to the public at 8:00 a.m., Friday, May 1st, 2020. The course will operate under limited hours and rules to limit potential spread of novel coronavirus.

Mayor Madden said, “In accordance with new guidance on golf course operations from New York State, we are pleased to officially reopen Frear Park Golf Course for business on May 1st with new restrictions and hours to reduce gatherings and limit the possible spread of COVID-19. These changes are inconvenient but necessary to protect the health of players and employees, along with the residents, families, and community members who utilize the park.”

Operational Updates

Under new hours, the course will open daily at 8:00am. The Frear Park Pro Shop and public restrooms will remain closed to the public. The last tee time permitted will be 5:00pm.

Tee times can be reserved two days in advance; golfers must contact the Pro Shop by phone at (518) 270-4553 between 8:00am – 3:00pm to make a reservation. Greens fees must be prepaid over the phone before coming to the course. In-person payments cannot be processed.

Tee times will be booked for every 15 minutes. Golfers will only be allowed to begin their round on the front nine. Golfers should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to their reserved tee time. Upon arrival, golfers should head directly to the first tee. Use of the putting green is prohibited at this time. Golf carts will also not be available.

Golfers are prohibited from congregating in the parking lot, and matching up of existing groups on the course is prohibited. Flagsticks are to remain in the hole and should not be touched. The beverage cart will not be available.

The Park Pub Restaurant, located adjacent to the Pro Shop, is open for takeout only.
