Fitness in the Park returns for Summer 2019

Classes will be led with Heartspace Yoga and Healing Arts and Lotus Wellness Studio

TROY, N.Y. — Troy’s Fitness in the Park returns for a new season, providing free Yoga classes for the public. The program will be held every Sunday, June 23 through August 25, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in Riverfront Park. The Downtown Troy BID and sponsor CDPHP® have continued to promote healthy living in Downtown Troy, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents, students, businesses, and property owners.

“At CDPHP®, we strive to improve the overall health and well-being of our community, day in and day out,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO of CDPHP®. “We thank the Troy BID and participating local businesses for providing this fun, free fitness opportunity.”

The participating Downtown Troy Yoga Studios are equally as excited. “Heartspace Yoga is honored to partner once again with the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District, CDPHP, and Lotus Wellness for the Fitness in the Park series at Troy's Riverfront Park this summer,” said Andrew Kasius, owner of Heartspace Yoga and Healing Arts. “As Heartspace approaches our sixth year of offering free outdoor summer yoga to the Troy and regional community, we're excited to see the growing interest and enthusiastic support for this series as well as downtown Troy's ongoing development as a great place to live and to visit.”

“As a Troy native and business owner in Downtown Troy, I am excited to witness and be a part of the revitalization of the city. We have built strong relationships with the local community and are excited to give back again for the Fitness in the Park Series with the Downtown Troy BID and Heartspace Yoga; bringing up to 300 participants to Riverfront Park every Sunday,” said Barbara Ritrovato, owner of Lotus Wellness Studio. “Lotus Wellness Studio is a community minded studio, located across from the News Apartments (The former Troy Record building), formed by a team of highly qualified staff, offering a welcoming atmosphere and small class sizes. Our mission is to make yoga accessible for everybody.”

With the talented and knowledgeable instructors from Downtown Troy, starting with Lotus Wellness Studio and Heartspace Yoga & Healing Arts for the second half of the season; guests of all ages, levels and experiences will have the opportunity to start their day, learning different routines and techniques. This popular series is the perfect way to begin a Sunday in Downtown Troy. After yoga, explore Downtown shops, restaurants, and attractions. Get out and about and stay healthy! Reservations for Fitness in the Park are not required.
