"Fence" Call For Member Art



The Arts Center of the Capital Region is pleased to announce a call for members’ art for
the 2018 FENCE Show.

Now in its’ 53rd year, the Fence Show got its name when members’ artwork was exhibited on the iron fence surrounding Washington Park in Troy, the original location of the Arts Center. In 2017, we accepted over 300 pieces, including paintings, drawing, photography, fiber arts, stained glass, and sculpture. The artwork is displayed salon style (floor-to-ceiling) in our galleries, and all levels of skill and ability are represented, from novice to professional. We invite you to be part of the tradition. All members of the Arts Center are eligible to enter.

AWARDS
This years’ awards ceremony is focused the artist. The awards ceremony will take place on May 25 at 6 pm during Troy Night Out. We will be awarding a total of $3000 in cash awards, including Best in Show, who will receive $600 and a solo exhibition at the Arts Center in the Wallace & Foyer Gallery in 2019. The awards support artists of all levels of experience, and are made possible through the generous support of Karen & Chet Opalka, Architecture+ and the Marcelle Foundation.

JUROR
Each year, we invite a juror to choose artwork for the Fence Select, an exhibition curated from the works in the fence salon. This year, the Fence Select exhibition will be juried by David Gersten. He will identify approximately 50 pieces that will later become the Fence Select, and remain on display through August.

DELIVERY OF WORK: Artwork accompanied by an entry form must be delivered to The Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street in Troy, during the following times: Sunday, May 6, 12 PM – 3 PM, Monday, May 7, 11 AM – 3 PM, Tuesday, May 8, 11 AM – 7 PM.
