Excelsior College Appoints New Dean for School of Graduate Studies
Excelsior College is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Dolan, PhD, to the position of dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Most recently, he served as the associate dean.
Dolan joined Excelsior College in 2014 as the director of assessment and program evaluation and has successively taken on more responsibility during his time with the College. In 2015, he was appointed executive director of accreditation, assessment, and strategy and in that role provided along with assessment and strategic planning, creative vision and strategic direction to the development of new programs and served as advisor to the dean of the School of Business & Technology. In 2016, he assumed the role of associate dean of Business in Excelsior College’s School of Business & Technology and provided leadership and guidance through the academic restructuring in 2018.
Dolan’s experience also includes teaching at The College of Saint Rose, Siena College, Schenectady County Community College, University at Albany, and Excelsior College. He has also attended many conferences and made presentations.
Dolan has a doctorate in sociology from the University of Albany with primary research interests in complex organizations, political and economic sociology, and program evaluation.
Dolan resides in Albany, N.Y. with his wife Sarah and two children. Outside of work, he serves on the Northeast Regional Open Educational Resources Summit Sponsorship Committee, is a member of Competency- Based Education Network (C-BEN) and the American Sociological Association, and is an active participant in Ed Surge’s The Loop.
