The Employer Alliance For Affordable Health Care Releases Statement
Small business owners know how mandates can increase health insurance costs. Lawmakers have introduced 71 new coverage mandates since their return to Albany earlier this month. Unfortunately, that is not the worst of it.
There is an immediate threat to your coverage. It is a 14 percent "assessment" on some health insurers included in Governor's budget proposal which you will ultimately pay. Industry taxes are always passed along to the consumer.
Most small businesses already experienced premium increases this year - ranging from nine to 14 percent - with no tangible healthcare benefit. The Employer Alliance for Affordable Health Care is working on your behalf, telling Albany to stop creating new taxes and focus on meaningful healthcare reform.
Make our message stronger. Tell your Legislators... "Any measure that increases healthcare costs is not acceptable."
It's bad for business. It's bad for the economy. It's bad for people.
Tell them to reject S. 7509/A.9509 (Revenue Article VII Bill) Part DD which imposes a 14% Health Insurance Windfall Profit Fee.
