Electric City Trolley Returns for Summer Season
Free Service Friday and Saturday Nights Linking Schenectady Attractions
SCHENECTADY, NY (July 3, 2019) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is pleased to announce the Electric City Trolley will resume service with special Independence Day service on Thursday, July 4, 2019. The trolley will operate on Friday and Saturday nights for the remainder of the summer. The free service starts at 4:00 p.m. and concludes at 1:00 a.m. with a trolley arriving approximately every 20 minutes.
“As the region’s mobility leader, we continually look for ways to meet the needs of the communities we serve.” said Jayme Lahut, CDTA Board Chairman. “The Electric City Trolley is another way CDTA is responding. Along with our community partners, this is a great way to offer a fun, and convenient way to explore downtown and Mohawk Harbor. Downtown Schenectady is filled with new energy, construction, jobs and opportunity. We are pleased to be part of the development and the excitement that is evident throughout the city.”
New this year, the trolley will service Homewood Suites and as part of the routing loop. Full route information can be found at www.cdta.org.
The Electric City Trolley is a partnership between CDTA and the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority, Rivers Casino & Resort, Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, the Galesi Group and Discover Schenectady. Schenectady-based software and logistics company, Transfinder’s free application CityFinder, allows users to track trolley location and detailed points of interest.
