Doane Stuart Students Offer Holiday Cheer for Veterans

More than 150 holiday cards, created by lower, middle and upper school students and faculty from The Doane Stuart School, were presented last week to William and Ellen Niemiec from the Gerald O’Neil Post #1683 in Rensselaer, NY.  Over the course of a week, students were offered the chance to make their own holiday cards for veterans and active duty military personnel.  The response was astounding, and resulted in over 150 cards! Mr. Niemiec, who came for the creations, is the Rensselaer County Commander and the 1st Vice Commander for the Sons of the American Legion, Gerald O'Neil Post, Squadron # 1683.  Mrs. Niemiec is the President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Gerald O'Neil Post, #1683.   The Gerald O’Neil Post #1683 will be delivering the holiday cards to veterans who are at the Veterans Hospital in Albany and sending to our veterans who are currently serving.
